Ministries
Sunday School

From the youngest child to the oldest member of our congregation, every person in our Sunday School Program has the opportunity to hear God’s Word. We believe that the Bible is a living and powerful Book (Hebrews 4:12); its message has the unique ability to save souls and transform lives. The Word of God is central in our classroom instruction, and other aids or activities (in the children’s classes specifically) are used only to enhance the Bible lesson.
Curriculum is categorized according to age/school grade, and has a two-fold goal: (1) to bring the lost to a saving knowledge of Christ; and (2) to help the believer to grow in his or her walk with the Lord.

Youth Ministry
On Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights, classes are available for children, age 4 through seniors in high school. Parents of newborns through 3-year-olds are welcome to place their children in our nursery during all services.
A big highlight for our children—as well as our adults—is our Vacation Bible School. Every year in June, young people come from all over the community. We are thankful for this opportunity to share the gospel and have seen many come to Christ though this ministry.
We encourage our young people to seek ways in which they can serve the Lord in our church and there are many areas in which they participate.

Adult Ministry

Music
We use traditional, conservative music in all of our services. God is holy, and our desire is that this be clearly communicated in our worship. We do not believe that an imitation of the appearance or styles of the world is pleasing to the Lord or is consistent with His holiness.
Hymns and gospel songs are an integral part of our worship. They have been greatly used of God in the past, and we believe that they are timeless in their value and effectiveness today. The lyrics teach powerfully of important Bible doctrine and reflect beautifully the majesty and greatness of our God. While our choir and vocalists occasionally use more recent compositions (with discretion), our congregational singing is compiled almost entirely of hymns and gospel songs.
Every Sunday, we enjoy music by our Children’s Choir, Adult Choir and songs by vocalists and instrumentalists. Musical highlights of our year are our Annual Christmas Cantata & Drama and our Children’s Christmas Program.

Missions

Our church has an organized time of door-to-door visitation weekly on Tuesday evenings and Sunday School Visitation monthly on Saturday mornings.
A key part of our local outreach is our bus ministry. On Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, we run vans to pick up children and adults in the surrounding community. We have seen many come to Christ through our bus ministry. It is our prayer that the families of the children who ride our vans will be reached as well.
In addition to our local outreach—our “Jerusalem”—we seek to take the gospel to “the uttermost part of the earth” (Acts 1:8). God has allowed us to financially support a number of ministries and missionaries around the world. These men and women win souls to Christ, plant churches and send missionaries themselves—all as an extension of our ministry in Alum Creek, West Virginia.
